Sam was referred to me by a friend and I'm so grateful to her for that. I have a 2000 Subaru Outback that was having trouble with the check engine light being on due to a faulty oxygen sensor and catalytic converter. The Subaru dealer and an independent mechanic both quoted me $1500 to replace the oxigen sensor and catalytic converter. Sam was honest that it was probably just the oxygen sensor and replaced it for $200. The check engine light is off and things seem to be fine. I appreciated that Sam showed me the old part that he replaced, something very few mechanics bother to do. Definitely made me trust him more. An honest mechanic is a gift.

Too bad Elizabeth had a bad experience with Transmasters. I have had 2 clutches and one transmission overhaul done here with very good results. I have a hard time trusting ANY shop, but these guys deal straight with you and get the job done.

I have been taking my cars to Transmasters for years. Originally discovered by my parents, Transmasters is my only "trusted" shop. I own a 2001 Nissan Maxima and 2003 Honda Odyssey and both cars are regularly serviced by them. I recently had my Maxima's transmission done. 4000 miles so far and running great! Sam is reliable and trustworthy. He has always been up front with all the potential scenarios and associated costs. I have recently moved from San Diego to Orange County, but still have my cars serviced by Transmasters in San Diego (even had my Maxima towed from Torrance to San Diego when the transmission went out - thanks AAA). Bottom line: I strongly recommend taking your car to Sam @ Transmasters!

A couple of things about this shop: First, they were recommended to us when our trany went out. "Sam", the owner, was upfront with all asociated costs. He got the car fixed in a timely manner and even gave us a military discount. Over 2000 miles later the transmission is outstanding! Second, we had our other car conk out on us on the freeway during the first five miles of what was supposed to be a 1200 mile trip to Texas! We called Sam immediatley that night and he said to tow it there and he'd look at it first thing in the morning. He called us in the morning and let us know it was the fuel pump. They had it fixed for us and were were on the road by noon that same day! We've put several thousand miles on it since that day and no problems! The mechanics were friendly and obviously know more about cars than just transmisisons. This is our new go-to place should we have any more problems. Outstanding customer service, competitive pricing, and a running car is what to expect from thiese guys!
